Jim Schmidt of Schmidt Contemporary Art in Saint Louis, Missouri is pleased to announce a series of exhibitions in conjunction with BravinLee Programs in New York City.

A long-time gallerist and consultant, Schmidt has curated and operated several gallery spaces in Saint Louis over the past four decades. Throughout his extensive career, he has collaborated with other prominent dealers including Ronald Greenberg and Philip Slein, and has worked in depth with established private collectors to help them build targeted collections.

While continuing to curate exhibitions for the Philip Slein Gallery in Saint Louis, Schmidt will present four exhibitions in 2024 at the BravinLee space in New York's Chelsea district.

These exhibitions will focus on artists that have not recently, or ever shown their work in New York.

The first exhibition: "Richmond Burton, The Past is Prologue.” runs from May 2nd through May 31 with an opening reception on Thursday, May 2 from 6:00-8:00 pm. For this exhibition Burton has reworked existing paintings creating fresh directions in his traditional motifs.

In July, Erik Spehn will present recent abstract paintings that challenge traditional methods of painting, followed in September by Rafael Ferrer with both new work and historical selections from a storied career. Finally, in November, Keith Morrison, long absent from the New York scene, will present selections from several bodies of work focusing on his Afro-Caribbean Jamaican history.

Further details will be announced in advance of each exhibition.
